12 Things Worth Ascending in New Haven

KIRA RYSKINA/YH
A commanding view of New haven, from the top of East Rock
1. West Rock A beautiful panorama of the city and a fun climb.

2. East Rock An equally terrific view of the cityscape head-on, but a much nicer climb through the trees of East Rock Park, bordered by a river and playing fields.

3. Science Hill No, not to get to chemistry class, but all the way up Prospect Street to the Divinity School.

4. Sterling Memorial Library Go to floor 7M, the top of the stacks, for a bird's eye view from the center of campus.

5. Art and Architecture (A&A) Building The roof of the A&A building provides a spectacular 360-degree view of the city with plenty of benches to sit on to enjoy the view, too.

KIRA RYSKINA/YH
The view from the top of the Art and Architecture building.
6. Kline Biology Tower One of the highest points in the city, Kline is Yale's skyscraper.

7. Bingham Hall on Old Campus This one's harder to get to because it's often locked, but above the ninth floor of Bingham is a castle-like roof with the best view of the Green and downtown.

8. Harkness Tower Also hard to get to (unless you're a carilloner), this historic landmark has a spectacular view from the heart of campus.

9. Silliman College via Entryway E From the roof of E between the four Gothic towers is a towering view of the Silliman courtyard and down College Street on the other side.

10,11. Morse and Stiles towers You'll have to know someone who lives in a room with slit windows in one of the identical towers for a good shot of the various campus landmarks.

12. The Fleet Bank Building The tallest building in New Haven, the Fleet building has a view probably encompassing the greatest area. The only problem is, to get to the top, you might have to get a job there.
