Another chapter of one of the oldest and most exciting rivalries in college football will be written on Sat., Nov. 21, 1998. In the 115th meeting between Yale and Harvard, the Crimson seniors hope to wrap up a four-year sweep of the Bulldogs, a feat that hasn't been accomplished by either team since the 1920s. On the other side, a resurgent Yale looks to complete its remarkable turnaround. A win over the Crimson would give the Bulldogs a winning overall record and an outside chance at the Ivy title.
Last year, on the muddy fields of the Yale Bowl, Harvard defeated Yale 17-7, capturing the Ivy crown and leaving the Elis winless in the Ivy League for the first time in 39 years. Yale still leads the all-time series 61-45-8. With nearly two full seasons under his belt and an improved team on the field, head coach Jack Siedlecki looks to restore Yale to its winning ways against his ex-roommate, Harvard coach Tim Murphy.
So put off your thoughts of turkey, stuffing, and Macy's parades. All this pales in comparison to the event that will take place on Saturday at Harvard Stadium. Like Princeton, Thanksgiving won't matter on Saturday. When all is said and done, The Game is all that counts.
