While faculty normally leave Yale to pursue other opportunities in academia, Divinity School professor Reverend Paul Marshall will be departing New Haven after this semester to serve as the newly-elected bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, Pa.
Marshall was elected by a majority of both clergy and lay voters from the Bethlehem Diocese on Sat., Dec. 2. He will assume his responsibilities immediately upon his consecration on June 29.
Marshall is an Associate Professor of Worship and Pastoral Theology at the Yale Divinity School, where he has taught classes in liturgy and hymnity, as well as pre-ordination requirements. Marshall is also currently serving as the acting director of the Institute of Sacred Music.
