Trumbull College IMs

The billiards team (1-0) opened the season in grand fashion last week, thrashing Branford by an ungodly 155-31 margin. The opening match proved a tight one through the first three racks until captain Ray "Surgical root can"Alcala '96 eliminated the first eight balls of the fourth, and fellow hustler Sinclair Im"mortal Kombat" '97 unleashed a fatal fury of deadly draw and incessant psychological warfare, en route to a comfortable 45-19 triumph. Not to be outdone, Steve "Just a Gigol"O'Connor '98 overtly monopolized the green from the onset, and Bonnie "Ms. Peter McN"Eley '97 carried just as big a stick, as the tandem banished the opposing pair 61-11. In the final match, Ian "Slick Willie" Anderson '97 and "Pina" Keiko"lada" Sekino '97 nearly registered a five-rack shutout, defeating Branford's mixed team 49-1.

The men's softball team kicked off its opener in more dramatic fashion, winning by forfeit against Berkeley and then shocking Saybrook 11-10 in a celebrity exhibition, highlighted by two home runs from the sinewy oaks of President Jon Klein"felter's Syndrome" '97, four hits from Rich "Junior" Frankel '97, and the hurler's prowess of cheesehead player-manager Paul "Power-ball" Pienkos '97.
