Pierson Intramurals

I spent the fall writing about how Pierson had the best team in just about every sport. I realize a few teams ended up with disappointing seasons (we did win a men's football game, thank you), but thanks to our outstanding women's soccer team, PC is in exactly the position we want to be to make our yearly winter jolt to the top of the charts.

So now I get to tell everyone just how incredibly talented Pierson winter teams are. I'll admit it is unlikely (though mathematically possible) that b-hoops will rebound from a heartbreaking 0-5 start to take the championship, but luckily for Pierson, our women's hoops team could probably beat most of those five colleges' b-hoop's squads. Led by senior captains Sierra "Jordan" Fletcher '97 and Leigh "Higher" Brezler '97 and junior standouts Shannon "Howzdapapercomin" Smith '98 and Saskia "Ewing" de Vries '98, they trounced SM. I heard the refs were deducting points from Pierson when we scored, holding them to something around eight legitimate points.

The fabled men's volleyball team, after an early let-down to CC, has rebounded to a 3-1 record and will earn the championship if they win all the rest of their games, which they are favored to do. The third of the Pierson wins came in a spirited three-game victory against a previously undefeated Branford team. Freshmen Matty "More than I could carry" Janik '00 and Tom "Go with the f" Lo '00 again shined brightly in the tense final moments.

Men's and women's squash have not only won both of their early season matches against JE and TC, but they have yet to lose a single game. Eddie "Bring out the" Hanmer '97 and Isiah "where there's a" Wilner "there's a way" '00 have destroyed their opponents in especially quick fashion.

Pierson is naming a new intramural secretary or two, so pick up an application outside the dining hall.

(Compiled by a masochistic Piersonian who is willing to pierce his navel and various other parts of his anatomy to show support for his college.) Back to Intramurals...
