![]() | The Beauty of IMsAs the semester began, I had mixed emotions about being the editor of the IMs page. Unsure of its relevance or readership, I was tentative at best.Yet as time progressed, I found myself looking forward to each week of IM news. Sitting at Saturday brunch, it brought a smile to my face to hear people say things like, "Oh look, we aren't last anymore," and "Look, we won hockey this week. You should have seen me check this girl into the boards!" The IM page recognizes our peers of all abilities who go out to the fields, pool, courts, and ice for a good time and some good competition with their college teammates in the quest for Tyng. I have heard some complaints, though, that some colleges don't get as much coverage as others. There are ways to remedy this situation. For example, a 'Hounie could go to Calhoun IM secretary Zachary Altschuler '97 and say, "Hey, I hooped it up A-side- style while knocking down pins and covering the net on frozen pond, and I want to see it in the Herald." And it will be done. So I ask you, where else is there a weekly record of the athletic endeavors of the greater Yale population as they compete with one another in the name of their respective colleges in an all-out effort to bring glory to the college and get a t-shirt in the meantime? Nowhere. And that, my friends, is the beauty of the Herald intramural page. Back to Intramurals... |
