Morse

The "Morse Force" has rocked Yale to its very foundations. After years of dormancy, Morse has once again risen to the top ranks in the race for the Tyng. With the spirited support of Master Stan "The Man" Wheeler and the athletic prowess of Dean Glenn "The Wall" Wallach, Morse is tapping all available resources in its unheralded rise to the top.

The rise begins with our victorious tennis team. Congratulations to these talented underclassmen who have brought home Morse's first championship in more than a year. Mike Hoevel '01, Amy "Michael" Chang '00, Joey "Kiss My" Ax '01, Julie Simmons '00, Roel "Zerreitug" Gutierrez '00, Amy "Just Chil" Lin '01, Shivan Mehta '01, and Thu Banh '00 all made significant contributions. Also returning next year will be Andre "Agassi" Mis-tier '00 and Deborah Bauer '01 who finished the season undefeated against Yale's toughest IM competition.

Morse almost made it a racket sports sweep in a hard-fought battle for the ping-pong championship. The team captains Ikenna "The Scout" Ogbaa '98, Melanie Schoenberg '99, and Denitza Bla-"Bla Bla" -gev '99, who has a bit of a body odor problem, led the team to near victory. Morse played to its best record in recent memory. Chris Szeto '99, Sh "L" ivan "Hernandez" Mehta '01, Jasper Kuria '01, Andrea "I want some" Mautner '99, Priscilla Song '00, and Carol "Bur" Li '00, promise to return next year to earn the championship for Morse, its rightful owner.

Despite a rocky start, women's soccer came on strong as the fall came to a close. Finishing the season 3-0-1 helped turn around a difficult 1-5 start. Led by captain Julie "Pele" Simmons '00 and freshman netminder Tania "Edgardo" Alfonso '01, Morse may very well reclaim the title which it held just two years ago.

Improved records this season in almost every sport have propelled Morse into the ranks of the IM elite. With Stiles in our rearview mirror, closer than they appear, and TD slowly losing their lead, the budding of a Morse dynasty is well underway. And what did one misguided Swami say? "Morse has settled for mediocrity?" Don't be surprised when even the mighty Saybrugians find Morse clawing at their heels.
