Chen--Time to crack the $10,000 mark and put some distance
between me and these two. They way things have gone in the past weeks, I may be
able to clinch this thing by Thanksgiving. Huge week in college football. At
Happy Valley, give me Michigan for $750. In a rare ACC gem, North Carolina
stuns Florida State for $500. But the Huskers are still number-one--Ahman runs
for 100 yards, NU over Mizzou by 35 ($800 each). And in Yale action, two soccer
wins and a field hockey win, all over the Big Red, for $250 each. Last
week:+$1,600. Current Balance: $9,300.
Krause--Well, at least I'm looking at the plus side this week.
Chen is setting himself up for a fall by mentioning the $10,000 mark, and I'm
ready to regain my rightful spot. Give me Penn State for $750 at home, as they
rebound from some sub-par outings. Staying with football, the Niners will take
the Eagles on Monday night ($750), and the New York NFL teams will pick up two
more wins ($500 each). In Yale action, I like both soccer teams at Cornell
($600 each), and the men's ice hockey squad will pick up a win over St.
Lawrence on Saturday at the Whale for $500. Last Week: +$850. Current
Balance: $7,500.
Victory--Let's go Jets. That's my new motto for Smack. My other
new motto, as a Smack alum suggested, is "Baby steps, Soraya, baby steps." Hey,
I don't need to remind you about the tortoise and the hare, do I? Let these
guys make their big fancy bets, and watch them take their big fancy falls.
Okay, but now let's get down to business. The soccer teams have a huge closing
weekend coming up, and I'm going to put my support behind them with $750 on
each team against Cornell. My New York patriotism has been helping lately, so
I'll put another $750 on the Jets over Miami. Last Week: +$500. Current
Balance: $4450.
Michael Levinson, Guest--On the gridiron, Barry needs two yards to be the first to rush for a grand nine years running. With the Skins' run defense, he'll get plenty more than that. Even though he's the team, he'll be enough...$1,000. In hoops, the
Tim Duncan era continues, and the Spurs continue their full-speed reverse from last season after their off-season (read: lottery induced) 180; besides, Utah just ain't the same without John ($500). Penn State will kick some Wolverine ass. Mr. Woodson wil
l make some big hits on Curtis Enis, since no one in front of him will make any. PSU takes number-one with a rout ($2,000). Curtis gains 200 yards on the ground for another $100. Last week: +$3,700. Guest Balance: $7,900.
