Trumbull

It's all about basketball for Trumbull this season. As the Bull strives to finally break into the top six in Tyng standings after years of silent suffering in IM oblivion, we'll be relying on our men's hoops teams to keep playing they way they have been these past few weeks. The shining star for Trumbas-ketball right now is the B-team, captained by Eric "Stop and smell the" Rosenthal '99. The squad has started the year off 2-0 thanks to a solid and deep roster of consistent players. Rosenthal cites the team's positive attitude, composure and a significant height advantage as but a few of the secrets to their success this year. Chief weapons include the agility of Nathan "Jesse" Vazquez '00, the ball-handling by "D"Asher "and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen" Price '01, and the unclockable speed of Ken "Three-point specialist" Gawrelski '99. Other major contributors include Dan Vu "got the right one baby, uh-huh" '99, "More than a" Tad "better than the other team" Kim '00, and Zach "Morris" Roth '98. All around, a surprisingly impressive showing by the Trumboys. In A-hoops, the Bulls started off strong by trampling Branford in the season opener, proving right from the outset that the championship is theirs for the taking this year. Starting guard Justin "Some people call me Air Justin for my hang time" Sommers '99 commented on the prospects for this winter: "After 14 rebuilding seasons, the TrumBulls in both AP and NY polls have been predicted to win it all this year." Enough said. Captained by "My Cousin" Vinnie Wilhelm '00, they'll be relying on Clay "Windex on the glass" Alliston (6'7") '00, "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Super" Dan McLaughlin '98 and Peter "Silent Hero" Bendix '00, just to name a few from an extensive and very enthusiastic roster.

On the volleyball front, the women have a lot of promise, despite a slow start and sparse attendance at the first game. But once everybody starts showing up, the possibilities are endless. The leadership and height of Master Janet Henrich will serve the team very well, as will the setting prowess of Kier "Comes the Sun" Van Remoortere '99 and Leslie "Less is More" Moore's '98 unstoppable serves. Watch out.
