Smack Zone

Chen--I didn't expect things to be this close this late, but you have to hand it to these two for their efforts, however wasted they are. Well guys, before we shake, on to a last set of picks so that I can take over the lead. It'll be Tennessee and Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, as both will win their conference championships for $3,500 each. Even though the NFL hasn't been too kind to me this year, I'll still go with my Skins at Tempe for $3,000. Hey, I'm loyal. And finally, you've got to love Yale hockey--the Bulldogs take down Princeton for $2,500. It's been fun. Last Week: +$1,500. Current Balance: $9,700.

Krause--So it comes down to crunch time, and I need a clutch hoop in the last minute to pull out my second consecutive title. No problem. Though the Niners never quite woke up last week, they'll be ready for Minnesota on Sunday for $2,500. The Pack will take the battle of the Bays for another $2,000. Look for the Knicks to send a message by knocking off the Bulls for $1,500, and will come back home to take out the Hornets for another $1,500. I'll also go with the YPMB-backed men's hockey squad this weekend to hold on to first place with a win at Princeton ($2,500). Last Week: -$600. Current Balance: $9,750.

Victory--With the Boss Lady betting on my performance, I'm more motivated than ever to show those guys that testosterone and sports aren't the only winning combination. I have handled General Tso with the men, and now for my next trick, the Smack crown. The Knicks will fall to Chicago, but will triumph over Charlotte ($3,428.36 each). Green Bay will embarrass Tampa Bay in front of their home fans ($1,220.76) Tennessee will teach Georgia a lesson ($3,141). The men will take Princeton on the ice, and both squash teams will squash Penn ($1,205.97 each). Last Week: -$2,150. Current Balance: $5,800.

Siobhan Peiffer (Guest)--Thirteen weeks of preparation and I'm still nervous. Sure, Minor Threats was clutch, but there wasn't cold hard cash involved. Yet here are the picks, with a little help from friends and family (isn't that always the way?): Jets and Giants both win, for $1000 each. For another $500, the Rangers triumph over Phoenix, with an extra $500 that the game ends in overtime. In Chicago, the Knicks romp over the hapless Bulls for $700, and on the home turf, staff puts the dancing flubber to shame this weekend. One final pick: the '97-'98 year sees at least one female SmackZone champ--for $800. Last Week: $0. Guest Balance: $5,500.
