First Pitch

Columbia softball

Columbia inaugurated a new varsity sport on Sun., Jan. 30, as the women's softball team held its first practice of the season. While the team competed against varsity programs for the first time last year, Columbia had its first full recruitment season this year. The team expects to compete at a high level right away. "I think we're solid and that we're going to be very competitive with everyone," first-baseman Anne-Marie Ebner '01 said.

Big Green's big wins

Dartmouth women's hockey

The Big Green won its seventh straight game on Sun., Feb. 6, a 6-1 blowout of St. Lawrence. Dartmouth (15-7, 14-4 ECAC) was led by Jennifer Wiehn's '01 two goals and goalie Meaghan Cahill's '01 24 saves. The second-place squad hopes to maintain momentum when league-leading Brown and third-place Harvard travel to Hanover this weekend.
