Davenport

Skate sharpeners. The D-port IM hockey team asked for one thing in the budget this year: skate sharpeners. No, they're not No. 1 in the league, but damn, are they mean. Guy "Bevalel" Levy '02, Andrew "Lilienthal" Cantor '02, Tashi "Gordon?" Kinjo '00, and Matt "Byrne" Dubeck '01 enter the house of the Zamboni with two things on their mind: finding loopholes in the rules and winning.

Now, I will be honest. There are many teams that have not been getting their share of coverage in this biweekly column, because I don't play on them. But I have to admit that they've earned their keep, so I'll speculate on what is causing their success.

We begin with volleyball. The facts are simple—Davenport is tall. Andrew "Tall" Duff '02 is tall. Adam "Tall" Litle '03 is tall. And Michael "Eh" Zimmer '01 is tall. Sure, there are no girls on that list, but by the commutative property of addition, there is a very high probability that Davenport is also chock full of tall girls, and I'm willing to bet that at least one of them plays volleyball. And that, dear readers, is why D-port is so good at volleyball.

Our height is helping us in basketball. But enough about Mike "R" Beers '02 and Ankur Chugh '02—we have a woman to discuss. Chrissy Kournioti '02 spends at least four hours every week studying pro and college basketball games. It is her dedication that has propelled D-port to the top of the bottom two-thirds of the ranking.

And no one, not even Pierson, can take that away from us—that is, unless we lose to them. But we won't, cause we already played them. Ha!

(Compiled by the girl next door.)
