Branford

Hey Calhoun, where you at? We're in sixth place now and we don't intend to get bumped back down to the land of the have-nots.

And just who were those swimmers, you ask? Well, there were too many awesome big-time performers to list them all, but we'll give a shout-out to valuable freshmen Alexis "Sooner or" Slater and Matt Shirley "You must be joking," who we hope to see snag us a few more points in the swimming finals.

Water polo ended the season well by pulling out a clutch victory in the last game. Though this year's team didn't make as big of a "splash" as they had hoped, they still had a nice run.

Women's volleyball also stepped up in their last contest. Though eventually losing a tough match to the league-leading ladies of Ezra Stiles, Branfordians such as Melissa "Malcolm Ex"-stein '01 made 'em work for it. And how about that undefeated women's basketball team? They're good. They're very good.

The men of Branford basketball picked up a couple of victories in their final hoop-fests. A-hoops pulled out a double overtime victory against Stiles, thanks largely to the six clutch points dropped by captain John Foster-Keddie '00 in the first overtime. And due the feisty play of Sam Ieong '00 and Ewan MacDougall '03, the studs of B-hoops also ended the season with a W. We'd also like to tip our caps to men's volleyball and captain Mark Lanpher '00, who had a great year.

Well, that's pretty much all she wrote for the winter season. It was a good few months in the gym for the Branford posse, and we're just chomping at the bit to get out to the fields again.
