Ezra Stiles

New Haven's weather's getting warmer, and that can only mean one thing: the winter IM season is just about over. And what a winter it was for the moose, who last year gained a reputation for hibernating during the cold, gray New Haven winters. Thanks to some outstanding performances, most notably from the Stiles women, Stiles has secured a top three finish in the Tyng race.

Stiles was led by women's basketball, women's volleyball, and men's C-hoops, which combined for a record of 30-3, two championships, and 150 Tyng points. Captains Abby Deering '01 and Maegan Plagge '00 led the women's basketball team to an undefeated season, and a championship. The win was made possible when Nicole Davis '01 hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime, when Stiles took control and the victory. In women's volleyball, the team came back from a 13-7 deficit in the final game to win it and take the shirts. Ximena Vidal '00 and Alli O'Neill's '01 team finished the season 10-1. The C-hoops team finished at 9-2.

But the most impressive stat of the season is that we forfeited very few games. IM secretary Pat Bumatay '00 has promised to shave his head and paint "Bradley for President" on his scalp if Stiles can go the entire spring season without a forfeit. If that's not enough to encourage you to come out and play this spring, then I don't know what is.
