Around the Ivies

Consolation prize
Harvard vs. Columbia men's basketball

As the last weekend of league competition approaches, the final standings in the Ivies still remain uncertain. While Pennsylvania and Princeton have solidified the top two spots, Harvard and Yale, both 5-7 and tied for fourth place, each have the potential to knock Columbia (12-13, 6-6 Ivy) out of the No. 3 spot this weekend.

The Crimson meets the Light Blue on Fri., Mar. 3, having previously lost to the Lions 65-71 on Sat., Feb. 6. Despite the final score, Columbia by no means dominated the entire game. With 17 minutes remaining, the Lions trailed 32-41, but they erupted with a 20-2 run over the next six minutes and built a 56-46 lead. Treg Duerksen '01 nailed a three-pointer with 1:58 on the clock to clinch the win for the Lions.

Columbia hit 55 percent of its shots, while Harvard banked only 36 percent, but the Crimson out-rebounded the Lions, 37-28.
