Pierson

The spring intramural season began with a bang on Tuesday, and the bang was Hope Tryon's '00 game winning single in the bottom of the sixth, as the coed softball team began their undefeated year with a thrilling 6-5 victory. With the likes of Cara Drewes '03 and Josh Kaul '03 playing alongside such athletic veterans as Josh Stein '02, Stephen Amdur '00, Nick Sklar '00, and a bunch of other upperclassmen whose names I don't know, shirts are all but assured.

The soccer team also began their season today, but got into a very closely contested game. With Schot Hannan '01, Tim Lovelock '01, and the team star Dan the freshman counselor, these Piersonites should produce a winning season.

The other spring sports will be starting very soon, so stay by your computers and wait for those e-mails. Pierson is closing in on seventh place in the Tyng standings and first-place Morse is getting scared.

The coed soccer team is looking strong as well. The freshmen will no doubt lead our squad to a winning season. As for the rest of the spring teams, they've started just as well and could certainly use some people. They are coed ultimate, coed volleyball, coed billiards, women's field hockey, men's baseball, and coed golf. Any forfeits are unacceptable so wait for those emails.

Midterms may be upon us, but Peggy offered these words to get all of you out to the fields: "You guys look like a bunch of sloths. Some of you probably have not been outside in months. I can't bear to look at you. Go out and lose weight!" Ouch.

Calhoun is certainly not out of reach. Seriously, does anybody want to finish behind a college named after a pro-slavery southerner? I didn't think so. Get out there and represent.

(Compiled by someone who knew Bruce Willis was dead the whole time.)
