Cornell men's lacrosse
The Cornell men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 9 in the nation, stunned undefeated No. 1 Syracuse with a 13-12 victory on Tues., Apr. 11. The Big Red surged ahead as attacker Michael Egan '03 netted two goals in the final seven minutes. He tied the score at 12 with 6:19 remaining before slurping up a deflected shot and launching another goal into the back of the net with 3:25 to go. The Orangemen nearly tied the game again on a series of turnovers, but midfielder Billy Fort '02 secured the Cornell victory with a steal in the waning seconds of the game.
Cornell (6-1, 3-0 Ivy) will play Dartmouth and Hobart this coming week, but the Big Red is already anticipating its game against Princeton (6-1, 3-0 Ivy) on Sat., Apr. 22, which will likely decide the Ivy title. On Sat., Apr. 8, the Tigers notched their 28th straight Ivy victory with a decisive 10-7 triumph over Brown.
