"When Animals Attack"

And you thought fraternity parties were rough. In Dighakon, Bangladesh, after drinking a "strong tribal brew," about 25 elephants went on a rampage, flattening houses and sending villagers running for their lives. The "tribal brew," which translates roughly into English as "Colt 45," apparently was too much for the elephants' low tolerance. The herd invaded from the hills of India's Maghalaya state, presumably after hearing it was ladies' night at the local watering hole. After drinking their fair share, the elephants ran amok, forcing panicked villagers to flee their homes.

Police told reporters they were still searching for the miscreant elephants who they believe to be possibly "hiding nearby." The police are also investigating the residents of Dighakon regarding the incident, as many of the elephants were not of the legal drinking age in the Jampular district where the incident occurred.

"When Animals Attack II"

Keeping with the theme of destructive animals, a kick from a disgruntled ostrich took the life of a 63-year-old woman last month on a farm about 40 km from Cape Town, South Africa. The woman was walking with her husband through one of South Africa's many beautiful "ostrich camps" on her way to visit friends when she was attacked by the oversized fowl.

For some reason, the ostrich viewed the woman as a threat and proceeded to violently attack her for hours on end. Not unexpectedly, the ostrich was seen to have been drinking "tribal brew" with some elephants just hours earlier.

The husband was forced to lie for hours on the dirt road while he helplessly watched as the ostrich trampled and kicked his wife. After being terrorized for more than four hours, the husband managed to drag his badly injured wife into the shade of the surrounding bushes. He then called an ambulance from a nearby farm. The woman died in the hospital a few hours later.

The ostrich is still at large--and still recovering from its hangover.
