Branford
After a rough start to the semester that saw the Branford faithful slip
perilously close to the Tyng cellar, strong showings and some record-breaking
performances have recently propelled us back up the charts as we mount our
attack on the upper echelon of IM glory.
Branford's volleyball teams have spearheaded the effort; they have lost only
one apiece, and the men, led by the hitting of captain Niko "I got mad game
like Coleco" Smrekar '98, Loren "Don't look now, 'cause we be scorin'" Stewart
'99, the setting of Mark "More fun than reruns of South Park" Lanpher '00, and
the all-around fly play of Mihira "Sailing through the sky like an airborne
lira" Jayasekera '99, are riding a four-game winning streak. The women,
inspired and encouraged by captain Melissa "Hits so hard it would make a snake
hissa" Pena '98, have also dominated, and hope to finish the season strong
after a recent speed bump on their road to the shirts.
A-hoops players became the unlikely bearers of a new IM record, as they went
up 27-0 against a rather overmatched Berkeley squad. After a few high-flyin'
John "This ain't chess, and I ain't no pawn" Foster-Keddie '00 dunks and
support from the rest of Branford's SAE posse, the final buzzer sounded and it
was 62-29.
The second record of the week was set by freshmen Aaron "Silky on the ice like
the voice of Bobby McFerrin" Zamost and Randy "Like Tim Taylor, just call him
Handy" Wolfe, who hooked up for a goal against D-port a mere four seconds into
the contest. Granted, that's all we ended up getting. But little by
little...point by point...Branford is clawing its way back into contention.
Look out for the rabid squirrel--it's coming soon to an arena near you.

Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergin movie and Kojak reruns for Saturday evening
entertainment.)
