Davenport

Although Davenport has bounced between eighth and 11th place in the last two weeks, the distance between us and our lesser rivals is finally beginning to widen as we head towards our next goal: seventh place.

Davenport's women's hoops team was successful in a big way last week. Overcoming a one woman and five-point advantage held by Branford in the last three minutes, DC came back to tie the score and win in double overtime. The team was led by Nora Fly"with me"nn '99, Erin Kill"'em"ory '00, Keelin Garvey "is for Victory" '00, Amy "Happy" Shapiro '99, and captain Renee Went"to the hoop"zel '00.

Men's A-hoops has rebounded from thousands of years of futility to sport a respectable 5-4 record. Leading the charge has been the solid starting quintet of captain Ken "Ozone" Osowski '98, Loren "Merv" Griffith '98, Brendan "Killer" Killory '98, Osagie "Grand-mama" Obasogie '99, and Manuel "Manny" Berrelez '00.

The D-Port secretaries want to thank all the IM captains for inspiring our teams, and thank all the freshmen for coming out to support their college! The time has come for D-Port to break away from the lower ranks of the Tyng standings and ascend to its rightful place. Our elite athletes, hardcore captains, and diehard spirit cannot be pushed down any longer. Like cream we will rise to the top. Bolstered by the need to escape the midterm mayhem for a rewarding study break and by our inner primal urges to physically overpower other human beings, seventh place, here we come!
