Ezra Stiles
Moose...Moose... MOOSE! Hear the roar of our
women! Battling back from a disappointing first game rout, the women of Stiles
volleyball gathered their energy and focused it on Calhoun. The match came down
to a third and determining game. An amazing team was present, filled with
talented players like Melissa Huang '98, Rashida Braggs '98, Helen Chan '99,
Yun Kim '99, Sharon Eldridge '99, Roopa Purushothaman '00, Amanda Kaplan '00,
Betsy Goldman '01, and Katrina Shockley '00. Stiles played with heart and
soul. It was a game worth crying over. With deuce at 14-14, the score wavered
to and fro. Commendable serving, setting, hitting, and digging all around--but
who finally prevailed? THE MOOSE! The final score of the third game: 19-17.
Life is sweet.
The exhibition pool rung with the roar of the Moose this Tuesday as a horde of
enthusiastic Stilesians answered the call to battle. The FAB Fabrizio
Cascianelli '98 ripped up the water as he tore his path to victory through the
dreaded individual medley. Tyler Cheung '01 left dead men floating in his wake
as he murdered his way to a great showing in the breaststroke.
And no witness will forget the ever-beautiful and radiant women of Stiles
blinding the men with glowing performances, gliding through the water like
dolphins. Molly Fournier '01 skipped across the water like a butterfly in that
emasculator of men and women alike, the individual medley. Intrepid captain Eva
Heintzelman '98 was a shimmer in the pool as she slipped through her events
with stunning speed. When the last smoky wisps blew away from that scarred,
age-old battlefield, the glowing embers of Moose tracks remained, emblazoned on
the pool's placid surface.
