As the end of the winter draws near and spring looms
ahead, let us reflect upon a somewhat disappointing season and rejoice at the
chance to bring JE out of the IM cellar come spring. The highlight of the
season has been our A-hoops team. Led by the sophomore trio of Jake Borden,
Andrew Krause, and Greg Goodman, and backed by Rob Welhoelter '99, Alfredo
Maldonado '99, and Andy Henshon '98, the squad has racked up an impressive 8-1
mark and is headed for the playoffs.
The women's hoops team was also doing well until last Monday when it fell to
Berkeley 18-17, finishing up the year with a 3-2 record. The only other team
that currently has a winning record is bowling. Our star bowlers, captain
Leslie Schradin '98, Virginia Sanders '00, David Fine '00, and Richard Wildman
'01 have consistently bowled above 150. They are currently 4-3, and hoping to
improve their record.
Spring sports bring hope of a new beginning. We have a core of spring athletes
who vow IM domination: namely, me. JE will soon have the free IM
T-shirts I have been promising everyone; this will surely draw out the
selfish people who have been too involved in their petty personal lives to
participate in JE IMs for the greater good of mankind. Only time will tell.
