Morse

With over a week remaining in the winter season, the shirts are already rolling in for Mighty Morse. One championship has been secured, and two more will be ours by season's end.

Hard-fought overtime victories have been the key to our success in hoops. B-hoops, which needed a half-courter in overtime by Jan "Sweet 'N" Lo '98 to win its first game of the season. It cruised after that and secured the title this past week. Congratulations to all who helped win Morse's first winter championship in two years!

Last week, the scene could not have been set for a more exciting C-hoops matchup, as Morse and Stiles clashed in the Amphitheater. With not only a spot in the elusive C-hoops playoffs but also fourth place in the overall standings on the line, tensions certainly ran high. Strong play from captain Zak Pines '00, spiritual leader Zeke Vanderhoek '98, Mike "Shawn Bradley" Hoevel '01, Christopher "I shoot over the backboard" Kelly '00, and "Captain" Louis "Albano" Aurelio '01 kept the contest close and helped force an incredible double overtime. Shivan "MVP" Mehta's '01, basket early in the second overtime helped secure the win and a spot in the playoffs. Just two more wins for the shirts!

Though manned with only one water polo player, Morse swimmers competed like champions this past week, helping distance ourselves from rivals Stiles and TD in the standings. Gritty performances were turned in by captains Christopher "Ironman" Kelly '00 and Betsy "Ironwoman" McCall '98. Congratulations to all who came out.
