Branford

Hot off the presses: Puff Daddy got it all wrong. It's not all about the Benjamins, baby, it's all about Branford water sports. Over the past two weeks, many colleges have felt the wrath of mighty BR in the water. Long-suffering Red Sox fans know that their teams haven't won a World Series since 1918, and it had been almost that long since BR came away from PWG with a water polo victory in the bag. However, perhaps as a sign of things to come this spring for the Fenway faithful, BR water polo finally broke out of its slump with an impressive 7-2 demolition of Morse.

Leading the way were goalie extraordinaire Meredith "The Wall" Trowbridge '99, Rebecca "Little Kids Like Water Polo, too" Goodman '00 on defense, Mike "Speedy like Ziti" Smith '99, Rich "Captain Courageous/Contagious" Seltenrich '98, Meredith "Motorboat" Bryarly '01, and Christian "BFAK-47" Vorkink '99. Later in the week, in one of the more memorable contests of the season, the squad was matched up in a five-on-six contest with Tyng front-runner Calhoun. Despite the best efforts of the 'Hounies and their outspoken cheering section, they went down like the Titanic, as BR triumphed in a nail-biter, 3-2. Thanks to all who have come out this winter in support of our soon-to-be BALD pair of IM secs. Hey, we may not be in first place, but nobody ever said we ain't got the love.

(Compiled by someone who wishes mad props for the recently birthdayed and soon to be Bic'ed Mike May '98. You da man, Mike.)

Back to IMs...
