Trumbull

Let's just call it another rebuilding year. Yes, the old Bull seems to be taking every opportunity it gets to fall hard on its Trumbutt these days, but there are glimpses of promise in the freshman class. And the women of Trumbull are out like never before, ready to lead the way out of IM Siberia.

The women's basketball team this year serves as an inspiration to us all and a paragon of IM virtue. Though the team has suffered a couple of tough losses, its record remains 2-3, shockingly respectable considering the team hadn't won a game in over two years until last week. The bullet-speed ballhandling of Mollie "couldn't be quicker" Ricker '01, combined with the magic touch of Mary Gott "the shot" shall '01 and the sky-high rebounding of Abby "the tall, lone" Ranger '01, is the future of TC hoops. Guiding them are the older and somewhat more embittered juniors who suffered through the meager years--Christine "I wanna be like" Michalopoulos and captain Jennifer "no more 90210 nicknames" Walsh--and new blood from upperclassmen Sunny "Delight" Gettinger '99, Genny "I just scream and they run away" Taft '99, and Jana "not like Willy Wonka" Zielonka '99. What we lack in height we make up for in spirit. And at least we don't have any man-things.

The one exception this week to the Trumboys' chronic IM ineptitude was a hard-fought tie with hockey frontrunner Davenport. With captain "I'm so good I make them c"Ryan Eckel '00 fresh off the injury list and Peter "Johnson" Kok '01 as goalie, Trumbull's showing at the Whale Tuesday night was no less than breathtaking. Major brownie points also go out to Adam O'Byrne "baby, burn" '01, who made six of the team's nine goals. Overall, lots of good play, lots of scoring. Quite a change of pace for the Trumbull men.
