Bears on ice

By Sharon Lin

The Brown women won their first ECAC crown on Sun., Mar. 15. ECAC Tournament MVP Ali Brewer '00 notched 30 saves in the 4-3 win over New Hampshire. Jill Graat '00 scored the game-winning goal on a second period power play. With the win, the Bears earned an automatic bid to the inaugural American Women's College Hockey Alliance National Championship. There, they shut out at-large qualifier Northeastern 2-0 in the semifinals and again met New Hampshire in the final at Boston's Fleet Center. The Wildcats avenged the ECAC loss 4-1 to take the first-ever National Women's Ice Hockey title.
