Smack Zone
Chen--With Lin now beginning to choke, I can concentrate on
embarrasing Smith, and I don't mean taking photos on Cross Campus. One of the
great weeks in sports is here. The NCAA Final Four and Opening Day. Don't
forget NCAA hockey this weekend--Yale upsets Ohio State for $1,000. I like
Carolina and Kentucky this weekend ($2,000 each), and Carolina in the final
($1,500). Look for a double-double from Jamison in the championship ($500).
Orioles will make it two straight wire-to-wire years; they start 1998 in first
with a win at home against KC for $1,000. Last Week: +$5,450. Current
Balance: $10,200.
Lin--I would like to point out that I was knocked down because
I bet on some games that were postponed at El Niño's whim. But I'll get
up again. I would also like to point out that Chen is still in last place. Yale
and the OSU Buckeyes (they have hockey in Ohio?) combine for fewer than five
goals ($500), women's lax beats the Green ($500), Stanford makes it to the
men's hoops final ($750), and Pat Summitt does it again for the women ($1,500).
Finally, for the sake of Herald sanity, the Mets will win their opener
against Schilling and the Phillies ($800). Last Week: +$500 Current Balance:
$10,360.
Smith--Chen has all the charactristics of a sine wave this semester: he started out going up, then went down, then went back up, and, as you can guess, he's about to go back down again. Did I mention that I hate math? I'll take Kentucky to advance in the Final Four ($1,000), and to win the championship ($500). The Cubs will also take their season-opener on the road against Florida ($750). The Yale softball team will take their game at Providence ($500), men's hockey will destroy OSU in their NCAA opener ($1,000), and men's tennis will handily defeat Rutgers on Friday ($800). Last Week: +$2,650. Current Balance: $11,700.
Guest, Sumit De--Last time I was here, I was the Black Sheep. Since then, I went to the ROTC and
became The Colonel. I have learned how to kill...which is what I will do to
these sports clowns. Herald News, baby! Give me $1,250 on the Knicks
beating the Spurs. Give me $2,000 on Yale not allowing Ohio State to score more
than four goals at the NCAAs. In the Final Four, Stanford loses by less than
six, and UNC beats the Duke-killers for the title ($1,775 each). The Mets win
their home opener, cause this is the Herald ($750). The Broadway
Blueshirts beat Pittsburgh by mistake ($995). Last week: +$10,000. Current
Balance: $11,450.

Herald.
