Smart girls can score
By Sharon Lin
One team has a Pilgrim for a mascot; the other, an
Indian, a bird, or a tree, depending on whom you ask. One represents the old
guard, the other erudition on the frontier. On Sat., Mar. 14, Harvard prevailed
in the battle of brains and brawn, pulling off a stunning 71-67 upset of its
western counterpart, Stanford. The Crimson made NCAA basketball history as the
first number 16 seed to topple a number 1 seed in either the men's or women's
tournament. As usual, Alison Feaster '98 led Harvard, racking up 35 points and
13 rebounds. Feaster was Ivy League Player of the Week 11 times and won Player
of the Year accolades. The Crimson's tournament ended on Mon., Mar. 16, when
they dropped an 82-64 decision to Arkansas.
