Trumbull College
Trumbull may be ending the winter in 11th place, but we
haven't given up yet. Having survived our hardest season of the year, we find
ourselves far ahead of where we were at this time last year. Let's run through
how we've done this season.
Trumbull's A-hoops team had a really solid performance, ending the season at
7-4. The last regularly scheduled game against a very strong Davenport team
proved to be a great success, even without the help of superstar Clay Alliston
'00. One of the key players in this one-point squeaker was Dan McLaughlin, the
team's only graduating senior. Captain Vinnie Wilhelm '00 said, "Dan's a
prolific scorer and an incredibly good-looking man." Co-captain, Justin Sommers
'99, had equally kind words: "Dan was the IM king this year, and his throne's
going to be hard to fill." With players like Ryan Williams '99, Pete Bendix
'00, and Andre Deazel '99, we have no doubt that someone will step up and warm
Dan's chair. In fact, in a game against TD a couple weeks ago, Lee Kovarsky
'99 had a 20-point game!
This was the first year that any of us can remember finishing the season
without being dead in women's hoops, thanks to Jennifer Walsh '99 and her
squad. Freshman sensations Monica Lebron and Mary Gottshall really helped the
team stand out on the court. And, I have to mention the men of 1156 who made up
half of the C-hoops team this year.
So that's it for the winter. All you other colleges had better be prepared,
though. When we get back from spring break, Trumbull is going to pull itself up
by the cleats and back out of the basement.
(Compiled by someone who's tired of making up silly names for Jennifer Walsh
that imply that she lives in Beverly Hills.)
