Pierson
I'm having fun. Finally, there are some sunny, warm days
and outdoor intra-murals to play. It's great to see those large groups of
Piersonites hanging around the courtyard waiting to head out to the fields.
And we've had some great large groups. Pierson baseball, led by Dave "If he's
playing then so will I" Drewes '98, brought nine players out for the first
game, a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to TD-SM. Coed soccer is 3-0 thanks to Dan "We
only need six cause he can play five positions" Koehler '00, who's been scoring
in the correct goal this season. And I hate to keep making the same point, but
Pierson volleyball remains unbeatable behind Matt "But he can't even jump"
Janik '00 and Daniella "Set me!" Ricciardi '01.
On to softball. Wednesday turned into the home run parade out on field number
two. Oh Trumbull, you mean you didn't know? Sorry. We'll send out the invites a
little sooner next time--maybe then you won't be on the short end of a 16-11
drubbing. Leading the charge of dingers for Pierson was (Championship T-shirt
size in parenthesis) Mike "Losing weight" Diluna '98 (XXL), Casey Deloach '99
(XL), Mike Janik '98 (XL), and Chris Burke '99 (XL). The sophomore brigade also
showed up in full force, led by the triple-hitting Erika Greenfest '00 (M),
strikeout king Matt Eisenberg '00 (L), and Hope Tryon '00 (M), who may be the
finest right fielder in the nation. That's right--I said nation. Up next for
this powerhouse squad, the softball showdown of the year. Thursday. Pierson.
Berkeley. Let's get it on.
Seniors, you've got to be just about done with those essays, and even if not,
you're going to graduate. And 50 years from now you're going to wish you had
one of those shirts to show your grandkids.
