Defending the crown

The defending league champions are struggling. The lineup has been hit by injuries, and in their Ivy opener on Sat., Apr. 4, the Bears were crushed by Princeton 8-1. Brown has stumbled to a 7-7 mark (0-1 Ivy), and now faces the heart of its league stretch. Last year's formidable roster, which included Trishna Patel '98, Elisa Banner '00, and Julia Martynova '99, has yet to be healthy. Despite a boost from a trio of freshmen, Heather Young, Irene Adsuar, and Shireen Naderi, the Bears are realizing that there's nothing more difficult than repeating.
