When the wind blows: Harvard lightweight crew

The morning began calmly on Ithaca's Lake Cayuga, with a mild tailwind for the second freshman eights race, which Harvard won with a time of 6:14.8. Cornell won the first freshman race, edging Harvard 6:17.7 to 6:19.3. In both freshman races, Pennsylvania's boats came in last.

The Red picked up its last win in the third varsity matchup as the wind evolved into a light headwind for the last two races. Harvard's junior varsity decisively beat its challengers with a time of 6:27.7. In the varsity boat race, the Crimson destroyed Cornell and Pennsylvania (6:19.5 to 6:31.1 and 6:38.0, respectively) to keep the Matthews Cup.
