Morse

Let's face it, things could be better for Morse Intramurals. We've spent two consecutive weeks holding the dubious distinction of being "Who's Not." We fell from a fourth-place position which we held ever since the sun went away almost six months ago. Still, things could be worse. We already have more points this spring than in all of the spring of '74! (In that fateful year, we only tallied 11.2 points.)

Things are certainly looking up for our billiards team, which is hoping to take the final step this year and claim the shirts. Rebounding from a loss last year to Calhoun in the finals, Morse has already racked up a 2-0 record, claiming a tough victory over a pesky Pierson squad. Two more victories will lock up a spot in the playoffs for this team which is headed by captain Dave "Pool Shark" Ross '99, David "Y.A." Tittle '99, Alex "Boozer" Barry '98, Shivan "The Destroyer" Mehta '01, Will "8-Ball" McLemore '98, Charity "Stripe" Barras '98, and Jennifer "Mrs." Field '01.

Following a solid showing in its first game of the season, Morse ultimate frisbee is already dreaming of the playoffs and a shot at the shirts. Coming off a disappointing showing last year, which was marred by forfeits, this spring's team has found new life in a strong freshman contingent, drubbing Trumbull 12-4 in its first match. With two games this week, captain Andrea "Frisbee Phenom" Mautner '99 and her band of faithful freshmen are ready to face the tough test ahead and make a run at the playoffs.

With title hopes also remaining strong in field hockey and baseball, Morse IMs are certainly not in the dire straights that the Swami hopes to portray. We are just getting into gear, and once we file our 400 point protest, we'll be right back in it!

(Compiled by an IM secretary who, despite a sixth-place standing, takes solace in being cooler than Kevin Irwin, SY '99.)
