Branford

A wise old man once said, "He who laughs last laughs best." Unfortunately, most of Yale has had a good ol' laugh at Branford's expense, as BFA went 5-12-1 from Sept. 21 to Oct. 1, with three of those wins coming by forfeit. Yet, from the depths of the Linonia courtyard to the cobblestones of the "Touch the Duck, but Don't Harass" courtyard, a chuckle is beginning to rise up among BFA's IMers as we've gone 11-3-3 in the month of October to shake loose the shackles of the Tyng cellar and regain our rightful place near the top o' the charts.

Leading the way in our late-season surge have been BFA racket sports, as captain Aaron Zamost '01 singlehandedly inspired table tennis to its first victory of '98 against Davenport, and captain Dominick Grant '01, Mike Vermylen '99, Joe Doctor '02, Jocelyn Simonson '01, and Dean Nikki '99 propelled tennis to a 2-0 October record.

After beginning the season like the Skins, coed football has found its groove with two straight victories by a combined margin of 86-6. Fearless pass rushing from Adam Frank '02 and Jada Yuan '00, as well as touchdowns from our two female secs with the mad scoring punch, have led to Morse and Silliman being simply steamrolled.

And, finally, men's football remains undefeated at 9-0. Season score so far: BFA offense hits for 194 in seven not-by-forfeit victories, and the D hasn't given up more than six points since week one. For all we care, laugh now, TD; it ain't over yet.
