Branford
Well sports fans, this week's edition of the Branford
update is dedicated to the women of Branford--those fearless females who don
their t-shirts, shorts, and cleats (or bare feet for volleyball) and come out
to the IM fields to bring Branford glory.
Though the season ended with Branford not receiving anywhere near the
recognition it deserved in volleyball, Erin "Spike it" McGrath '01, Gabey
"Shoeless" Cosel '02, Martha "Hairless" Bagnall '00, and Mishaela "I
transferred to Yale just to play IMs" Duran '00 were great additions to the
lineup. They're getting fired up for this winter's season of women's
volleyball, where they will be sure to shine.
Tennis debuted this week for Branford with the match coming down to three
tiebreakers. Tasia "Cornacova" Medard '99 was a standout for the women. With
other players like Joanna "Killer" Manders '01, the rest of the season is sure
to be incredible. On the table version of the sport, Jen "Gol" Lee "we're good"
'01 and Liz "Put the spin on it" Livingston '01 have been staunch supporters.
Soon they will able to bring home the rewards that they deserve.
Finally, we have our women's soccer team, mighty and ferocious, that claimed a
2-1 victory over Pierson-Davenport last week. Led by Captain Meredith "Hoover"
Trowbridge '99, Keili "The Savior" Langford '00, and France "The Flash" Brown
'02, they're destined for greatness.
That is the tribute to the women athletes of Branford, who have come out to
fight for Tyng glory, and to fight for intercollegiate honor. You are a brave
and awesome bunch, and we salute you. And in the immortal words of somebody
famous, "BFA!!"
(Compiled by a very hungry squirrel.)
