Davenport
Given the premises P, "We have enough players," and Q, "We win," the following conclusions can be made:
1) P -> Q
2) ~ Q
Point taken?
Examples of this immutable law abound in Davenport's arguably improvable IM record. Its talented tennis team, however, has sometimes been able to overcome these odds. Even though there are only two women on the team, D-port was able to defeat Saybrook in a grueling match in which co-captain Raj "I'm only double-faulting because I don't want to scuff up my loafers" Adlakha '00 recorded a win at mixed
doubles and the freshman doubles team of Ewen Cameron and Chanu Rhee came back from 7-9 to clinch the match in a tiebreaker. Amy Shapiro '99 and Colin Reingold '02 also won at first and second singles, respectively. After a short slump, men's soccer is also looking good, after recording three wins in a row, and table tennis finished up with a winning record. Turning from logic to poetry:
Though you may be tempted to sneer,
D-port IMs will soon be in gear.
Those who once hissed
At our place on the list
Will soon be a-trembling with fear.
