Saybrook

Twenty years and some-odd days ago, in the town of Framingham, Mass., the Nurr '99 was conceived. Thousands of miles away in North Carolina, Chris Martin '99 was growing up. As young men, they realized they had a gift and a destiny. These two Saybrugians met at Yale, and together they captained the IM cross country team to an easy victory over all opposition. For the past three years, these stalwarts have led their valiant team to the shirts.

This year, these captains, as well as the ever-faithful Sam Frank '02, Robert Stockman '02, and Jon Criss '01, once again crushed the field, garnering five of the top 12 places. The women finished third in the championships thanks to the running of Abby Taylor '01, Alice Liu '01, Reilly Dibner '02, Jessica Huang '02, Natasha Bloom '00, Kristen Gengaro '00, Jodi Weinstein '02, Carla Dane '99, Emmy Betz '99, and Catie McGuinn '01. Props to those of you who are willing to take some time out and make sacrifices to play for SY. You're the best!

We'd also like to thank the BK table tennis team for not only being the best competition around, but also the best sports. Thanks to the SY seniors Sreedevi Kodali, John Whipple, and Kevin Kwong, along with the juniors, captain Karna Basu, Shabnam Faruki, Natasha Bloom, the super sophomores Brian Abaluck, Dave Plattner, Andy "undefeated" Chan, Urvashi Sen, Debbie Liptzin, Alice Liu, and the fab froshes Mara Segal and Nathan Nussbaum for leading us to an undefeated season after two years of table tennis frustration.

To all our opposition: when your lead is slipping away like sand through your fingers, when we spike you in volleyball, dunk you in basketball, squash you in squash, check you in hockey, and bowl you over in bowling, you'll realize what we knew all along--the Tyng Cup likes it in Saybrook, and we plan to keep it into the next millenium.
