Hey, baby, wanna buy an A?
Some Thai university students have sex with their lecturers, pay them bribes,
and throw parties to secure better grades, according to a poll conducted by a
state-run educational institute. In addition, 16 percent of the 900 students
questioned in the poll had witnessed grade buying.
"Some students agree to throw birthday parties for teachers, sponsor trips, or
even let teachers sex- ually harass them," pollster Sukhum Chaloeysap said.
The survey even found such practices occurring on the campuses of those who
conducted the polls. They refused, however, to comment on whether they had
accepted any favors.
Do not feed the animals
A 27-year-old German man was found mauled to death by lions at a Nuremberg zoo
in what police described as an apparent suicide. When workers entered the zoo
on Fri., Oct. 16, they reported that they saw "a male lion sitting on top of
the mutilated corpse while three female lions sat nearby."
Police said the man, who bled to death from his wounds, had stripped down to
his undershirt outside the cage, crossed a water divide, and then climbed over
a fence to get into the enclosure, leading them to conclude that it was an act
of suicide.
Authorities would not comment on exactly what drove the man to kill himself,
but one policemen speculated, "We're German. We're never happy." Case closed.
Dominatrix begs for slap on wrist
Terri-Jean Bedford, 39, known in the Toronto area as Madame de Sade, was fined
3,000 Canadian dollars for "offering sex for money" in her rented bungalow. The
prosecution had sought a nine-month jail term, but soon retracted, fearing
that the bars and isolation would not really be a punishment.
The judge justified the sentence by noting that Madame de Sade had earned over
one million Canadian dollars in her long career at the "House of Erotica."
