Branford

So, the fall season has come and gone. Almost. After beginning our 1998-99 campaign in a more-than-impressive fashion and hitting the top of the Tyng charts for the first time since Appetite for Destruction went to No. 1 for Guns and Roses, Branford IMs have fallen from glory faster than you can say (with a few exceptions) "No women in Branford ever come out to play any more."

Yes, it's sad, but true. While a number of Branford's men's teams held up their end of the bargain--football is 10-1 and headed for a championship rematch with ES on Monday, and men's soccer went the whole season without a forfeit for the first time in four years--the estrogen count for Branford IMs has fallen dangerously close to zero. Were it not for the spirited and frequent participation of secretaries Meredith Trowbridge '99 and Rebecca Goodman '00, ping-pongers Sarah Masters '02, Sasie Sealy '99, and Jen Lee '01, as well as resident tyrant Jada Mussolini, we'd be floundering even worse than we already are. Yet, like Jack Nicholson said in As Good as It Gets, "Always look on the bright side of life."

We still have two absolutely enormous seasons to go and plenty of time to make up points. Here's to hoping that for Branford IMs, this isn't as good as it gets. After moving from No. 11 two years ago to No. 8 last year, it's time to make like the Jeffersons and keep movin' on up!
