Ezra Stiles

There once was a tennis captain. This captain saw the first IM standings of the year, and noticed his beloved college, Ezra Stiles, at the bottom. Twelfth. Last place. So he approached his friend the IM secretary and took the standings from his pocket, and said, "This is not good. We have to do better." But the secretary was not worried. He knew that the standings had been made before the Moose had played many games. And he knew he could count on that tennis captain to help lead the charge to the top.

So the season continued, and the Moose rose. Led by the triumvirate of captains Josh Frank '01, Grant Chavin '01, and Helen Chan '99, the tennis team avenged its only loss of the season by winning a nailbiter against that other weird-looking college, Morse. Only due to the stellar play of Lex Paulson '02, Eliza Park '01, Ximena Vidal '00, Kristin Rising '01, Scott Hoffer '01, Stephanie Sato '01, Margaret Boittin '01, Justin Davids '01, Santi Duewel '00, Michael Gerber '01, Hang Lee '02, Ameet Talwakar '02, Lisa Gallagher '01, and Matt McClure '99 was the Moose victorious. It now comes down to the championship against Calhoun--a match which will not only determine if Helen finally gets a shirt, but also who will finish third overall this fall. That's right, the Moose is within sight of Le Cup de Tyng.

In the world of football, the Stiles men's team has proven it is No. 1, but they have not gotten their shirts. Why? Because of some weird rule which states that even if they beat Branford, they have to play them again because they have identical records. So the shirts will be decided on Monday, when their stellar team of Mike Hargis '00, Si Chin '99, Dave Barcelo '00, Marc Hoffman '00, Rashan Clark '00, Dan Hernandez '02, Kevin Gordon '02, Chris Edwards '01, Adam Seidman '00, Andy Beck '02, and Tad Yanagi '00 (and a bunch of other people who I either already mentioned in the tennis writeup or just don't like) take on BFA again--and win.
