Smack Zone

Bialik
As I near the stretch of my title bid, Yale will take a step toward the Ivy football crown in a much closer race by taming the Tigers ($1,000). I'll have to root for hated Harvard, too--and to make sure, $500 on the Crimson over Penn. And to go further than the daring NB, I'll take men's hockey in both games this weekend ($1,000 each) and men's soccer over first-place Princeton ($1,000). Finally, look for Syracuse to upset Virginia Tech ($1,000). And my roommates? No money this week. But ladies, please call 'em; a certain D-Port sophomore can feel free to apply. Last Week: +$4,300. Current Balance: $28,550.50.

It's time to gear up for the stretch run in Smack, and I'm ready to reclaim my rightful place at the top. I will rely wholly on the Eli men to bring me past hard-hearted CB, who continues to deride his less fortunate competitors. To start off their stretch run, football will edge past the Tigers on Saturday ($1500). Men's soccer gets to turn back the clock on Saturday--this time they'll come away with a win against the Tigers and break the deadlock in the Ivy race ($1,000). Men's hockey will kick off their season with at least a split ($1,000), as will men's basketball ($1,000).Last Week: +$3,000. Current Balance: $24,760.

John Hyman, CC '01, once said, "A woman is only a woman, but a cigar can be a fine smoke." Okay, John, so i guess I won't bet on you, unless, that is, you transfer to D-port. On the gridiron, watch as Bartholomew runs for 100 yards ($500), Walland throws for 200 ($1,000), and Murawczyk puts at least three balls through the uprights ($5,000) as the 'Dogs win in a romp over the hapless Tigers ($3,000). Oh yeah, and $50 that the FBI won't be the only ones secretly watching the Saybrook strip. Kansas State will move into the Fiesta ($1,000) with a win over the Huskers ($1,000). I'm barely 15K out of this race, and I'll be damned if I resort to cheap tactics to win. That said, sorry CB's roomies. Last week: +$10,000. Current Balance: $13,850.

Guest David Anderson
My second victory at Pick the Pros! If I won any more often, they'd have to stop calling this a guest column. This week, look for the best team in football, the Green Bay Packers, to crush the hapless Giants for $2,500. (I know I'm not supposed to bet on sure things, but I feel compelled to follow the example of the Smack Zone regulars.) Not that it matters, but Yale will beat Princeton in football ($1,000), and soccer ($750 each). Finally, Fresno State (my home town college)will be victorious in football ($750), and win the WAC men's soccer championship ($750).Last week: -$144. Current Balance: $14,057.

David Anderson, JE '99, won Pick the Pros this week. Go to PickthePros and try your luck!
