Smack Zone
Bialik
The Game has finally arrived, so for this week I'll put
aside petty Smack rivalries and cheer on the sons of Eli--after a fair share of
tailgating. Amidst the drunken haze of the JE section, I'll see Yale crush
Harvard on the gridiron ($5,000), as Walland will throw for 200 yards ($2,000)
and the Bulldog secondary will pick off Linden at least twice ($2,000). Men's
hockey will complete the Bulldog sweep by filleting the Crimson a day after
spanking Brown ($2,000 each). Finally, to round out rivalry weekend, Michigan
will continue to roll by knocking off the Buckeyes ($2,000). Last week:
+$500. Current Balance: $29,050.
Breglio
Three words, Chen. Forever the Game. Not that you'll be
watching, though. I don't know if you should even be allowed to bet on it. I
will have to represent the FTG contingent alone at evil Harvard, so I'll go for
broke out of loneliness. A huge $10,000 says the Elis will kick some Cantabular
ass (the card still says moops, Dave). Walter Camp will smile in his grave when
he sees Walland throw a forward pass or two for at least 150 yards ($2,000).
Too bad the hockey team had to stay home this weekend, but they'll make the
most of the Elm City spotlight and even their record by handing the puck to
both Brown and Harvard ($1,000 each). Last week: +$500. Current
Balance: $25,260.
Goldenberg
I feel a bit like Chucky the deranged doll right now. You
guys keep thinking I'm down, or dead, or even plastic, but, as the Chukster
would say, "I'm Baaack." So bet carefully, because though I'm nipping at your
heels right now, by the end of this week, you'll be eating my dust. Boom will
throw for 200 ($3,000), Rashad will run for 100 ($500), and Murawczyk will
score at least four points ($5,000) as The Game turns into an old-fashioned
shellacking ($6,000). And I'll be back to the Haven in time to see The Wall
turn away 25 shots ($1,000) as Yale makes the Crimson look foolish once again
($4,000). Last Week: +$8,500.
Current Balance: $22,350.
Guest Albert Chen
So, the former champ finally makes his return. Breglio,
CB2, and Monkey Boy have done everything in their power to keep me out, so I
had to make bold picks like "The Pack over Giants" to get in my best shot.
There's only one Game this weekend: give me the Bulldogs by a touchdown, 200
yards from Walland, and a louder Yale section for $2,000 each. Yale hockey big
over Brown for $1,000. My weekend upset specials: USC upend Bruin dreams of
chips and salsa, and Pittsburgh exposes the Jaguars for the frauds they are
($1,000 each). Last Week: +$5,750. Current Balance: $19,807.
Albert Chen, BK '00 won Pick the Pros this week. He is a ping pong
