Smack Zone
Bialik
I feel like I let the football team down. I didn't end up
painting a blue "Y" on my chest, mainly because I was only with two other guys
(can you say "YAL"?). But this week, I'm sure there will be more than three
other Yale fans watching us maul Cornell ($2,500)--so they can paint
their chests. Yale will also paint the Big Red red in field hockey and take
both soccer games ($1,000 each). And Syracuse will top West Virginia by at
least seven to stay atop the Big East. The combination of one roommate's
birthday and the other's female guest will make them both money and make me
$100 each. Last Week: +$1,950. Current Balance: $24,250.50.
Breglio
I'm so honored to feature the esteemed Mad Dog in our
section this week that I feel propelled to a higher level, one transcending
Smack. So I'll leave the grappling and insulting to the boys and proceed to the
wagering. The Elis will thrash Cornell on the gridiron ($1,000), as well as in
field hockey ($1,000). Clearly, volleyball will excel at the Yale Classic this
weekend, finishing no worse than second ($500). Sadly, I can't bet on the NBA,
and I'll have to disagree with the Dog and say that there won't be a season
this year at all for me to bet on. Consequently, I'll resort again to the NFL
and say that the Jets will oust the Bills in the hotly contested AFC East
($500). Last Week: +$1,000. Current Balance: $21,760.
Goldenberg
Someone once said, "Oh, how the mighty have fallen!" They
could have added "Goldenberg sucks" without so much as batting an eyelash. My
balance seems to be falling faster than the hopes of the Republican party. But
never fear, as my Smack, much like a certain geographic region, shall rise
again. To all of you playing along at home, don't try this: I am going to bet
more money than I have and pray that I don't wake up on Sunday with shattered
kneecaps: $5,000 on football over Cornell and $5,000 on rugby over Clarkson.
Last week: -$4,950. Current Balance: $3,850.
Guest Marc Bush
In the NFL, I like the Jets over the Bills ($1,200) and
the Pats over Atlanta ($1,000). Tomorrow versus Cornell, look for Big Red QB
Mike Hood '99 to go down more times than a certain Davenport sophomore ($5),
and for my man #90 Pete Sarantos, MC '00, to register at least two sacks
($750). Walland, TD '00, will scramble for at least 35 yards ($400). The
top-ranked Buckeyes won't beat the Spartans by more than two touchdowns ($400)
and Silver Charm will win or place at Churchill Downs ($400). Also, I won't end
up going to Casino Night stag ($1). Ladies, call me (said D-Port sophomore need
not apply). Last week: +$750. Current Balance: $14,201.
Marc Bush, ES '01, won Pick the Pros this week. Go to
PickthePros and try your luck!
