Saybrook

Well, after a slow start, the 'Brook is starting to come to life. Congratulations go out to our women's soccer team who, paired with Trumbull, scored three times as many goals as they did all last season (thanks to the recruiting of Debbie Liptzin '01, Emmy Betz '99, and Carla "The Great" Dane '99). Catie McGuinn '01 made her presence felt in her intramural soccer debut by knocking in two goals, and Dane scored the game winner after helping to deliver a volleyball thrashing to TD.

Thanks also to Azure Wells '01, the only Saybrugian woman so far to show up for two soccer games in a row. Alice Liu '01 proved her versatility by playing four IMs in one day, and even crutches can't keep IM secretary Natasha Bloom '00 from dominating down at the fields. Still, we need more female participation to prevail. It would be nice for once to play with six people in volleyball and football. It would be even better to have woman subs for any of our sports, but that may be a dream.

Our men, as always, have been stellar. Table tennis captain Karna Basu '00 guarantees triumph after two years of frustration. The two football teams only have one loss between them and look to roll onward though the opposition. Kevin "Nir Nir N" Irwin '99 looks to lead Saybrook to repeat for the third year as cross country champs. We're only getting stronger as winter approaches. Beware all pretenders! We will assume our rightful place at the top soon enough. It's just a matter of time.

(Compiled by an IM secretary who apologizes for not giving Master T., TD, and Adrian Delmont, SY '99, the respect and recognition they deserve.)

Back to IMs...
