A well-endowed coach

Dartmouth track and field

A generous gift bequeathed by Marjorie Chase in memory of her husband will be used to create the first endowed coaching positions at Dartmouth. Barry Harwick '77 and Sandra Ford-Centonze became the Herbert and Marjorie Chase Head Coaches of Men's and Women's Track and Field on Thurs., Sept. 17. Chase had been working as a timer at many of the Big Green's meets until his unexpected death while mountain climbing in 1979. "The gift from Herb and Marge Chase to endow the coaching positions...is a fitting way to publicly show how important track and field has been in its century-old history at Dartmouth," Harwick said.
