Princeton football

Princeton's Gerry Wilson '00 intercepted a pass from Cornell's Mike Hood '99 in the last minute of the game on Sat., Sept. 19, to secure a 6-0 victory for the Tigers. The Tigers benefited from Cornell's many penalties, mistakes, and turnovers. Over 27,000 fans in the brand-new Princeton Stadium watched as Princeton managed to hold off the Big Red in its first home game in two years. The stadium, which was built during 1997 and 1998 to replace Palmer Stadium, was largely responsible for Princeton's first football sellout since 1964. Alex Sierk '99 kicked two first-half field goals, including a 47-yarder, proved to be the only scoring in the game. The loss spoiled the coaching debut of Cornell's Pete Mangurian.
