O Canada!
O Canada!
Cornell women's ice hockey
Cornell forwards Alison Stewart '00 and Morag McPherson '00 were
recently named to the Canadian National Women's Under-22 team. Stewart and
McPherson both excelled offensively last season for the Big Red. Together they
scored 51 points, and Stewart was 18th nationally in goals per game
(0.92). National head coach Melody Davidson, also head coach of Connecticut
College's women's team, commented, "This is an excellent opportunity for these
players to lift the level of their game and take a step towards playing for the
National Women's team down the road. It's also an outstanding opportunity for
the Canadian Hockey Association to evaluate the young female talent in our
country."
When Stewart, Cornell's captain, and McPherson, the team's assistant captain,
return from national team play, they will lead the Big Red in an effort to
improve on last year's third-place ECAC finish and quarterfinal loss to Brown
in the ECAC playoffs.
