Editor's Note

The IM sports winter season is up and running and some familiar faces are occupying the top spots. In A-hoops, perennial powers Jonathan Edwards and Pierson have won their first five games. Pierson is led by a strong contingent of football players, while JE is led by a group of seasoned, top-level veterans.

Morse and Saybrook lead the pack with undefeated records in B-hoops. Morse is also off to a first-place start in men's hockey, though Cody Johnson, DC '99 guarantees that Davenport will "go undefeated the rest of the way." Three-time squash champion Berkeley is facing strong competition from Morse and Saybrook. In water polo, Silliman seems to have the most talent this year.

The most intriguing matchup this week comes in women's volleyball. Two-time champion Berkeley will face off against Saybrook in a rematch of last year's final. Look for Saybrook to avenge last year's loss. In men's volleyball Pierson is undefeated, but Silliman is close behind.

It looks like Berkeley and red-hot Saybrook will be the teams to watch the winter. But don't count out basketball powerhouse Morse. Timothy Dwight needs to regroup if it is to continue to be a serious contender.
