Don't call it a comeback, but the JE men's volleyball team is doing some damage. Winning four out of the last six--with a modest squad of seven players--was no small feat. The win over once-mighty Pierson last Tuesday was the topping on the dessert. The comeback was engineered by mastermind Will "Booty call" McGrath '00, who led with fearsome spikes and wicked serves. Andy "Come get some from Daddy" Graham '02 slammed down some headknockers on the opponents. Good setting by Johnny "Spanish mack daddy" Swagerty '00 rounded out the core. Seung "I know you want some" Lee '00 had some great saves that stymied the Pierson spikers, and Ben "Husk this corn" Christen '00 stuffed millions of attempted spikes

If the JE men's volleyball team's wins were unprecedented, so were the squash teams' back-to-back-to-back victories over Branford, Pierson and Davenport. Against Pierson, Matt "Row my boat" Turnell '01 kicked some butt, as did Captain Carl "Hyphen" Bialik '01 at the two spot. Although the team is young, it has impressed of late, winning matches against more experienced opponents. Look for Walter "Hard as a" Stern '01 to start kicking some ass with McGrath and Lee.

The spirited leadership of Carolyn Nguyen '00 led the swim team to a fourth-place finish for a 2-3 record. This was after a big improvement on last year's 0-5 finish. Thanks much to the talent of Dan Goldberg '00, who won 100 and 50 free, Katy Dion '02, who won at 50 butterfly, and Courtney Creek '99, who finished first in the 50 breast. In addition, the foursome of Goldberg, Dion, Creek, and Paul Lilly '99 won the 200 relay.

One thing is for sure, this winter season has been a drastic improvement over last year's season.
