Penn men's fencing
Penn's men's fencing team won its 13th Ivy League championship and first in 16
years with a 14-13 win over Columbia on Sat., Feb. 20. The victory gave the
Quakers a perfect record in the league with a 5-0 mark. The perfect league
record is the Quakers' first since they last won the championship in 1983. The
Columbia meet was an intense duel that came down to the final battle. The
Lions, who shared the 1998 Ivy title with Princeton, won both sabre and
epée, 5-4. In the final bout of the day, Penn won foil, 6-3, to capture
the title. The Quakers will begin preparing for the IFA championships, which
take place on Sat., Feb. 27 at Cornell.

Harvard women's ice hockey
The Crimson extended its winning streak to 21 games, the best in the nation.
The team defeated Cornell by a 4-2 score on Sat., Feb. 20, and thrashed St.
Lawrence 10-2 on Sun., Feb. 21, maintaining its No. 1 ranking and securing the
ECAC regular season title--the team's first in its 20-year history. The Crimson
was on its first road trip since Sat., Dec. 19th, when the team traveled to New
Hampshire and snared a victory against Dartmouth 4-2. Looking just as
comfortable on foreign ground, the team jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead
against Cornell and never looked back again.
Putting it on ice
Cornell men's hockey
Junior center Ryan Moynihan scored his eighth and ninth goals of the year and
added an assist to lead Cornell to a 4-1 win over Brown on Fri., Feb. 19. The
game featured only three penalties, none of which were against the Big Red. The
last time Cornell went an entire game without a penalty was against Colgate in
1968. The Big Red now sits in a fifth-place tie with Yale with 19 points, at
11-11-3 overall, and 8-7-3 in the ECAC.
